    01 / Heritage

Built on aerospace experience. Designed for what comes next.

C-Quip’s aerospace capability brings together the experience, people and expertise of Advanced Aerospace, which has been incorporated into the C-Quip brand.

By bringing our aerospace, marine and advanced composite expertise together under one brand, C-Quip offers customers access to a broader depth of composite engineering and manufacturing experience from a single team.

From aircraft interiors and replacement components to large structural composite assemblies and prototype airframes, we have built our reputation on solving difficult manufacturing challenges and delivering accurately, reliably and to specification.

    02 / Capability

From concept to controlled composite manufacture.

Aerospace programmes rarely follow a straight line. Designs evolve. Requirements change. Prototypes become production programmes. Manufacturing challenges emerge that cannot always be anticipated on a drawing.

C-Quip provides the technical capability and manufacturing agility to support projects through that process, engineering expertise combined with highly experienced composite tradespeople, from early development through to finished, assembled structures.

    Material & process testing

Better decisions start with better information.

Our onsite testing capability supports material and process development for aerospace customers, allowing concepts, materials, adhesives and manufacturing processes to be evaluated before they move into production.

We can develop and manufacture the jigs, fixtures and test setups required to assess consistency, accuracy and performance, helping engineering teams reduce uncertainty as programmes develop.

03 / Proven in demanding programmes

Design and manufacture to specification and time.

From three prototypes to a 23-airframe production programme.

Engaged by a leading company in the US to build three prototype aircraft through a competitive tender process, we went on to deliver 23 airframes. The team built the complete airframe, including pilot seat, pylons and internal structures, on time, on spec, and in support of an ambitious next-generation programme.

Our agility, openness and accuracy in the design and build process led to repeat business with a global leader in the aerospace world.

“Advanced Aerospace has been a true pleasure to partner with as our program grew from an idea into a product. They continuously and proactively communicated and would immediately raise concern if there was an issue or a decision that had to be made, often with sound engineering solutions already prepared for those conversations. AAL is not just a vendor, but a partner to their customers and has been critical to our success in meeting our program goals.”

Serving Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic.

When the maker of Air New Zealand’s business-class seat was suddenly left without a tray-table manufacturer in 2009, they trusted the team to produce this vital and complex part within a short time frame.

The challenges included creating a set of manufacturing drawings, machining four sets of composite tooling, jigs and fixtures, and setting up dedicated work spaces for secondary bonding and post-paint assembly, including mastering a water-based three-stage colour chosen by Air New Zealand, and producing a complete set of process paperwork with manufacturing instructions and compliance documents.

Air New Zealand were so pleased with the outcome that in 2012 they invited the team to create their next-generation tray, a tray which Virgin Atlantic also bought the rights to. In 2014, Air New Zealand also commissioned a refurbishment of all their 737 monuments: stripping coatings, repairing damage, repainting and reassembling.

Case study 03 / Large composite structures

    Innovative carbon fibre solutions.

The team has a reputation for working at the cutting edge of carbon fibre aeronautical design. One proud project was manufacturing the wings and fuselage for an experimental aircraft designed for use on helicopter pads.

It is another example of the ability to produce large carbon fibre structures, achieved using carbon fibre prepreg with Nomex honeycomb and PU foam cores, followed by a vacuum bag oven cure.

Case study 04 / Material & process testing

An onsite lab for informed decisions.

Advanced Aerospace built an onsite lab to conduct the material and process testing requested by aerospace customers. Prototyping involves a lot of experimentation, with materials and adhesives, for example, and the design and manufacture of jigs and fittings to measure consistency and accuracy.

This is a critical service that enables customers to make good, informed decisions before a programme moves into production.

    04 / How we work

Aerospace-grade process, with the agility of a specialist team.

    01

    Built to aerospace standards

C-Quip holds AS9100 certification and operates with the systems, processes and quality discipline required for demanding aerospace applications. That certification applies to C-Quip's quality management system, and is embedded in tooling, material selection, manufacturing processes, documentation, inspection and final delivery.

    02

    Without unnecessary distance

C-Quip operates from Auckland, New Zealand, working with customers and programmes internationally. Our experience with overseas customers means distance is not a barrier, clear communication, proactive problem-solving and reliable delivery across borders and time zones.

    03

    Complex and specialist requirements

Not every aerospace requirement is a large production programme. We manufacture custom composite components, replacement parts and specialist structures, from work larger manufacturers choose to outsource through to parts that challenge conventional manufacturers.

A composite partner for ambitious programmes.

The future of aerospace is being built by teams developing aircraft, structures and technologies that often have no established manufacturing playbook. Those programmes need a partner capable of understanding the challenge, adapting as it evolves and turning ambitious engineering into finished composite structures.
